The Manavgat river boat trip combines three of the region’s classics in one easy-going day. The Manavgat River flows from the Taurus Mountains through orchards and reed beds down to the Mediterranean, and a slow cruise on its calm, green water is pure relaxation – ideal for families, couples and anyone who prefers a gentle day out.
River, sea and waterfall
The boat glides downstream for about two hours. Keep an eye out for turtles and water birds along the banks. At the river mouth a long sandbank separates the river from the sea – here you can swim in fresh river water and in the salty Mediterranean just a few steps apart. Lunch is served on board (grilled fish or chicken, salad, rice) with soft drinks included.
In the afternoon we visit the Manavgat Waterfall, where the river tumbles over a broad limestone step surrounded by shady tea gardens. The entrance fee is included.
Market day in Manavgat
The tour runs on Mondays and Thursdays – the days of the big Manavgat bazaar. Stroll past mountains of fresh fruit, spices, Turkish delight, textiles and souvenirs, and practise your bargaining skills before the transfer back to your hotel.
