From Avsallar to the jeeps
We confirm your exact pickup time after booking. Avsallar is one of the first stops of the morning: the minibus then heads east along the D400 through Turkler, Konakli and Alanya to Oba, where the jeeps are waiting – a drive of a little under an hour.
After a short briefing the convoy leaves the asphalt and climbs into the Taurus through pine forest and past banana and fruit gardens. A first break at the Kadıpınar waterfall is followed by a stop in a Yörük nomad tent, where gözleme flatbreads come straight off the griddle. The route then winds through two mountain villages to a lookout high above the Dim dam. Lunch is served beside the Dim River, and its cold water is the perfect antidote to the heat. On the last stretch the famous water fights break out between the jeeps before the minibus takes you back west to Avsallar in the late afternoon.
Good to know
- Be at the hotel entrance a few minutes early – the bus keeps a tight schedule.
- Wear swimwear under your clothes for the river and bring a towel.
- A waterproof bag protects your phone during the water fights.
- The tracks are bumpy, so the trip is not advised in pregnancy or with back trouble.
Transfers from your hotel in Avsallar, the jeep safari with guide, lunch and the village visit are included; you pay on the tour day. Curious what the mountains feel like after sunset? See the night safari from Avsallar.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the pickup in Avsallar earlier than in Alanya?
The jeeps start at Oba, east of Alanya, and Avsallar lies about 24 km west of the town – the minibus needs almost an hour to get there.
Can I swim on this tour?
Yes, at the lunch stop by the Dim River. The water is cool even in midsummer.
What is gözleme?
A thin Turkish flatbread filled with cheese, spinach or potato and cooked on a griddle – in the nomad tent it is made in front of you.
Is the jeep safari suitable for children?
Yes, families love it. Children aged 3–11 pay the child price and under-3s ride free; only the bumpy tracks make it unsuitable in pregnancy.
